Volunteer

Stand in the room for a child who can't stand alone.

CASA volunteers are everyday Nebraskans — teachers, retirees, accountants, parents, students — appointed by a judge to advocate for one child or sibling group in foster care. We provide the training. You provide the time.

Who can volunteer

The only requirements

  • 21 years or older.
  • Pass a background check and provide references.
  • Able to commit roughly 10–15 hours per month for at least one year.
  • Reliable transportation to visit with the child.
  • Willing to complete approximately 30 hours of pre-service training.

You do not need a legal, social-work, or education background. Most CASAs are not professionals in child welfare — they're community members who care.
